Training on Sports Injury Management and Masage and Signing of Cooperation between the Faculty of Sports Science and the Kebumen Regency Education Office

Kebumen, May 14, 2025_In order to improve the competence of Physical Education, Sports and Health (PJOK) teachers, the Kebumen Regency Education, Youth and Sports Office collaborated with MGMP PJOK at the junior high school level and the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences (FIKK) of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) to hold a training entitled “Management of Sports Injuries and Sports Injury Masque”. This training was aimed at junior high school physical education teachers in Kebumen Regency.
This activity is part of community service in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which is part of the institutional Community Service (PKM) program of the UNY Sports Science Doctoral Program, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Sumaryanti, M.S. A total of 85 teachers attended the training which was held at Jatijajar Hall, Candisari Hotel, Karanganyar, Kebumen, in an enthusiastic and interactive atmosphere.
The main purpose of this activity is to provide teachers with an understanding and practical skills related to the initial handling of sports injuries, as well as mastery of basic masage techniques as part of the recovery process for students who experience injuries during sports.
The event was opened by the Head of the Education, Youth and Sports Office of Kebumen Regency, Yanie Giat Setyawan, S.Sos., M.Acc., who emphasized the importance of PJOK teachers' readiness in handling various incidents of sports injuries in the school environment. He hoped that this training would improve teachers' ability to provide first aid appropriately and safely, in order to create a healthy and safe learning environment.
The Vice Dean for Research, Cooperation, Information Systems, and Business of FIKK UNY, Dr. Nawan Primasoni, M.Or., was also present and expressed his institution's support for teacher capacity building in the regions. He emphasized that this activity is part of UNY's commitment in establishing synergy with local governments to improve the quality of sports education in schools.
The training material was delivered by Dr. Enggista Hendriko Delano, S.Or., M.Or., AIFO, a lecturer at FIKK UNY who is also a native of Kebumen, and accompanied by Anggun Saraswati, S.Or., M.Or. and Faki Khairun Naili, S.Or., M.Or. from the Health and Sport Center FIKK UNY. In the training, participants received theoretical and practical training related to the handling of common injuries such as sprains, muscle cramps, and mild dislocations, as well as safe and applicable masage techniques in the school environment.
With the implementation of this training, it is hoped that PJOK teachers will be more confident and skilled in assisting students during sports activities, as well as being able to reduce the risk of long-term injuries due to improper handling. In addition, this activity also resulted in a cooperation agreement for the next five years between FIKK UNY and the Education, Youth and Sports Office of Kebumen Regency in the fields of research and community service.
